Busy times, baby times

Gin Season has been such a busy time here at Anchor Academy. But the end is finally in sight, thankfully. I am ready for it to be over, to have my husband back, and  get into the full swing of Christmas.
I love Christmas! Its so nice to have my own house to decorate this year.  The tree is up, garlands around the edge of the piano and above the door and  I'm considering getting a bit of mistletoe to hang on the light in the living room, just for the fun of it.

As for baby things.... they are growing. Or rather "it" is growing. Little flutters and kicks have turned into big kicks and I am able to watch my belly roll as the baby turns. It is so fun! Definately my favorite part of being pregnant. But boy is it a busy baby!  We decided to give the baby a nickname due to its rambunctious nature. and that is....

Thumper!

And as for me, pregnancy has its ups and downs but has been more ups lately. I was struggling with getting my blood sugar under control to try and avoid Gestational Diabetes. Thankfully, my blood sugar has leveled out and I have not gotten over 135 for several weeks now. This was a huge answer to prayer! God knows just how to take care of me. :) Also I had broken out with a horrible pregnancy rash that would keep me up itching at night. Usually this rash starts in the third trimester and stays till the end of pregnancy. But it is completely gone!  I am so THANKFUL! God is so good.
So all and all,  I am doing good. Loving life, My Savior, and my Husband.*

So the only down side lately is....

That about sums it up! LOL

But really...
This was me at 12 weeks

And this is me at 30 weeks in the  same tee shirt. Who knew those great big Camp Joy tee shirts would come in so handy?

Yup. I am blessed.

*(Speaking of husband, He is so sweet to me. He cooked me breakfast 3 times this week after getting off work. I'm glad he loves me despite my crazy mood swings. I am blessed indeed!)

Ginning Ginning Time is here!

Its that time of year here at Anchor Academy. Cotton Gin Season. The time when schedules are unpredictable, Nights are late, and hubby comes home grubby.
We're only ginning days now, but within a week we will probably be ginning nights too, which is when things will get really busy!
The Gin is one neat place though. Other than being loud and dirty of course. But sit in a chair and use some ear plugs and it is quite interesting. :D

The cotton is loaded onto the Module Feeder, where it is then chopped up and sucked into the gin.

The cotton then goes through a series of giant machines that dry, clean, deseed, and rehydrate the cotton.

Then the cotton is pressed and wired into bales, bagged and loaded onto a truck to be taken to the storing warehouse.

Its so clean and soft when its done!

And there you have been given a completely feminine view of the cotton gin. :D

The Fun Never Ends!

I haven't been on the computer much lately, so let me go back to last week first.

FALL!
I went to the Dollar Tree and got the leaves and Flowers for my fall decorations. I love the way they turned out.
The wreath that I made for the door is my favorite. It cost about $5 dollars to make.

My mother-in-law bought me the little figurines and they went just perfect with my flowers and gourds :)

And then I added this wonderful picture to my piano top and it was absolutely perfect.

And then I made this little flower arrangement for my kitchen windowsill.

 Fall is so much fun!!

And then yesterday I tackled my laundry room shelf, which has really been bugging me since I need it for canned goods. And it looks amazing! It went from this:

To This!

Now as for THIS week. :D THIS week I went to Springfield to have my ultrasound done. Our little baby was being quite difficult however and would not let us know for sure if He was a She or She was a He. BUT Tammy, who did the ultrasound, was 80% sure it was a........ GIRL!
So while Jason and I did change our vocabulary from saying "He" to saying "She" I  am not going to begin buying little girl stuff just yet. :) My dear sister-in-law taught me that lesson very well after she was expecting and preparing for a girl and had a little boy.
It was so amazing to see our baby. Simply amazing. She was perfectly formed, practicing her breathing, sucking on her toes, and wiggling all over the place. I though maybe people would think I was crazy with how much I was saying my baby moved, but she  really did move a lot! She wouldn't let us get a very good face picture, but I am pretty happy with the one I did get.

Here she is sucking on her toes. :)

 And her pretty profile.

It was so wonderful.  And I know I sound sappy, but it really was! :)

And just a few more pics I got over the weekend.

and...

Isn't God good to give us so many blessings?

Fall

I love fall. I love the colors, the crisp air, the cool mornings, and wonderfully cool afternoons. The mums that start blooming, Pumpkins on the porches, The leaves changing color, and cozy evenings at home.
And I love fall decorations. So I've been looking up inexpensive ways to decorate my house for fall.

This I could do on my window sills in the kitchen, if I used a little bit of a smaller gourd. And I would probably do something a little brighter around the bottoms of the gourds.

I love how this looks. But I'm not sure where I could do it at. maybe my piano. If I hung up some of the pictures. :)

And this I am gettting the supplies for either today or tomorrow. Whenever I make it to town to do my grocery shopping for this week. I am going to look at the Dollar Tree for the leaves and flowers and such. So many people online said that it was the best place to get fall decorations. I am looking forward to making my house all fally. :)

Happy sewing week! :)

This week I have been happily sewing away, getting ready for Baby.  :)
The quilt top I made out of some half-square triangles I had already pieced together and than forgot about. I am going to back it in either brown or off white flannel, to give it that snuggly baby feel.

This little blanket I made for fun! My husband really liked the John Deere flannel and I figured, hey, even if I have a girl I can still use it as a throw out blanket or something. :)

I actually made a little girl blanket a couple of years ago, the same way as I did the John Deere Blanket. I was going to give it to my mom if her last baby happened to be a girl. It wasn't however, and so I put it in my hope chest in hopes of my own little girl someday.

On top of the sewing I've been doing, my baby drawer is becoming filled with other sweet little baby things. Like this little bowl. It is fully useable, and completely adorable.

and this sweet little baby hat given to me by my sister. She told me when she gave it to me "just in case you have a girl" I love my sister! Hopefully after I have the baby she can come and stay with me and help me out some. :)

So there's the baby funness from last week, and this week, is another baby quilt top in an orangish red, and yellow. :)

sewing for babies is so much fun!

And just a couple more pics.... The baby belly! Captured with my nice camara, instead of my cell phone.

And just a blissfully happy wife and soon to be mama!!

17 week baby belly update

It seem like I am growing more and more every day right now.
I'm starting to fill out maternity clothes, and people are beginning to comment on my belly.
I have been feeling much better and have much more energy than I did before.
I've gained 5.2 lbs since recovering from morning sickness
I go in for an ultrasound the last week in the month. (Can't wait!!!!)
I have been able to feel Baby moving around quite a bit lately. Jason was able to feel it a little bit last night too. <3

God is very good to me!

cowboy baby and stuffs

I've been into horses and cowboy stuff ever since I was a little girl. I loved riding my horse, wearing my boots, braiding my hair, the whole nine yards. And my mom made  me these great riding culottes.(Oh to be that skinny again!)

My bedroom as a teenager was Brown and tan and filled with horsey things, and pictures of my 2 horses, Windy, and Roxy.

So in looking at baby things.. its oh so natural that I should look at cowboy baby things. And love what I see.:D

Dr. Seuss.... bit of a brainstorm

I live in a 2 bedroom house, so obviously the 2nd bedroom will soon become a baby/child's room. I've been trying to figure out what I wanted to do in there as far as decorating goes. I don't want to do anything elaborate or expensive since children grow and develop there own tastes and preferences. But I want to do something that I love to walk into. So, today, something prompted me to look up Dr. Seuss baby rooms. And after looking and looking at all the amazing ways people decorate in Dr. Seuss, I tentatively settled on this one.

Its more than Dr. Seuss. I'd like it better without Dr. Seuss. I just love the stripes, wacky angles, the colors, and the simplicity. Its bright, but muted. Actually, if I turned on my creative switch, I could  make the blankets, the diaper holder, and the curtains.

I also thought about pictures with cute Dr. Seuss quotes in them like

"Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You."

I also love this idea

And something like this.

So what do you think? Does anybody have any simple creative ideas for this type of theme?

The Weekend

We got to go visit our family this weekend! Since I got married, Visits "home" are rather rare, and always looked forward to. My mom was my best friend for years, and I get to missing our long talks and jokes that only the two of us would understand.
Usually, Jason and I leave our house on Friday, and then leave Mom and Dads on Saturday. So its a quick, overnight trip that tends to get stressful trying to juggle our time between my and family, and his family, plus any social events that happen to be going on that weekend.
BUT this weekend! We left Friday, and didn't come back home until Sunday afternoon. Which gave us a WAY more relaxed visit. After visiting Jason's family on Friday and Saturday morning, we went to my parents place and spent the evening, and the next Sunday morning with them. Actually, I should say "I" spent Sunday morning with them. My poor hubby came down sick Saturday evening and wasn't able to get out of bed until the trip home. Anyway... It was so nice to spend time with family, just relaxing, talking, joking, watching movies, etc. I Love my family. :D
Besides just visiting family,  Jason's uncle was holding 2 meetings promoting the Young Living Essential Oils and since Jason and I have recently begun using essential oils, we wanted to go and learn more about them.
All in all we had a great time other than Jason getting sick. I actually had to drive home, which is HUGE! My driving scares Jason so usually if he's in the car, he drives. :D

Blog Change name.

I decided to change the name of this blog. why?

"The baby bumps" made me think of bumps in the road. And that made me feel like all I could blog about was the bad things about being pregnant which nobody want to read about, right? And besides, now that the morning sickness is over, I really can't find all that much bad about being pregnant. :D I'm getting quite a little baby bump, several new stretch marks, and actually managing to keep up with the house and dishes. And I have been way more active actually finding myself walking back and forth from the anchor and the cotton gin. And.... I got on the scale this morning.  I've only gained 2 lbs since I quit throwing everything up. Yay!
It feels so good to feel good!!
God is so good.
I feel so blessed.

A sweet memory given by my Mom.

I remember my Mom listening to this song when she was about 7 months pregnant I think. Ever since I heard it, (though I never told her) I have looked forward to marrying, and carrying my own baby, so that I could experience this song in my own life. It is such a sweet sappy song. :) (Thats prolly why my mom was crying over it at 7 months pregnant btw. :D)
I just love great memories. :D

First Prenatal Appointment

I had my first prenatal appointment this week and got to hear our baby's heart beat! My midwife was able to find it right away and it was so thrilling to hear a sign of life from within. I am so happy!
I have been feeling much better the last few days. Tired, but at least not sick. I am beginning to get used to being tired though. It never ends. :D
My sister is here to visit me for the week and we've been having fun. Having her here has actually motivated me to get active again and we went for a walk this morning before the weather got to warm. Whew! Am I out of shape! It is my goal to stay active during my pregnancy to hopefully avoid any excess baby weight. Or at least a lot of it. Probably doesn't help that my sis and I made chocolate chip cookies today either, or that they are perfectly matched with the gallon of milk I have in the refridgerator. Mmmmm. Need to go get some. Night!!

Starting the baby bump

Hi!
I have wanted to start a baby blog for a while now, but have just now began feeling up to it. Pregnancy has been such a new experience! The morning sickness was one thing, but I am beginning to feel that I have something inside me. That there is something there that wasn't before. And stretch marks! I've already got 4 little stretch marks on the lower side of my abdomen. The miracle of life is so amazing, and I already can't wait to hold my little one in my arms.
So all that to say....Welcome to the world of a newly married, newly pregnant woman. Well not quite so newly pregnant. I am 11 weeks along and finally, FINALLY getting over all the yucky morning sickness. Due to the genetical morning sickness heritage I aquired from my mother(who is a wonderful person btw), I was kneeling before the throne of porclein for about 6 weeks. Ugh! No fun! But, on the bright side, I lost ten pounds that I won't have to lose after I have the baby. :D
My husband has been so sweet to me through it all though.  I don't know what I would have done without him to encourage me, love me, and understand. I wanted to tell him how much I appreciated him, so the other night, I told him, while looking sweetly into his face

"Sweetie, I don't know what I would do without you to be sweet to me while I'm sick"

and you know what he says?

"Well you wouldn't be sick like this without me, Dear"

He makes me laugh so much!
